Staff profiles

Dr Jemma Green

Executive Chairman and Co-founder

Setting her career trajectory early on, Dr Green became the voice of sustainability and corporate social responsibility in the business of big money lending while at J.P. Morgan in London.

She then went on to complete a PhD in electricity market disruption and become a research fellow at Curtin University, was Deputy Lord Mayor of Perth, helped set up Australia’s first fossil fuel free pension fund‎ and has sat on numerous boards championing sustainable business such as the Water Corporation, Carbon Tracker and Climate-KIC Australia.

In 2016 Jemma cofounded blockchain technology company Power Ledger and in 2018 received the EY Fintech Entrepreneur of the Year award.

David Martin

Co-founder and Director

David has nearly 20 years' experience in the electricity industry and has held executive positions in two state-owned electricity utilities. Prior to setting up Power Ledger in 2016, David spent six years as a senior consultant to industry participants specializing in regulation of distribution networks, consumer engagement, renewable/new technology feasibility studies and business development.

David has significant experience in the challenges and opportunities facing regulated energy networks businesses as they transition to a new energy-demand paradigm that sees customer behaviour leading technology and service demand changes that can present “make or break” opportunities for energy markets.

John Bulich

Technical Director and Co-founder

John provides the strategic direction for conceptual, system and application design and development for Power Ledger. John leads the technical team in the development of the Power Ledger platform.

John co-founded Ledger Assets, and pioneered blockchain technology in Australia. Ledger Assets has successfully developed and deployed world-first blockchain-based products proving the provenance of artefacts including evidence-grade photography, video, document management and medical records management.

Vinod Tiwari

Head of Business Development & Sales

Vinod is leveraging his network from many years working within the Australian energy sector, previously as the COO of Regen Power, General Manager Sales at Perth Energy and Senior Advisor Future Effect, to connect with client stakeholders across power and business domains, as well as across various third party providers to support the delivery of Power Ledger's blockchain offering; build new propositions and enhance existing customer experiences.

His past roles also include managing technical sales and business development teams for General Electric in India. Vinod holds an MBA from the University of Western Australia and a Bachelor of Electrical and Electronics Engineering.

Caren McLaren

Sales and Business Development Executive

Caren is an experienced Sales and Business Development Executive who has been working in the Energy Industry in Western Australia for the past 17 years with significant frontline experience.

She has served in a number of senior roles over this time working with and for all main retailers including Western Power, Synergy, Alinta Energy and Perth Energy. Caren's focus has always been helping customers take control of their energy and assist with their supply mix while intelligently and innovatively managing their usage.

René Haagen

Project Manager

René is responsible for ensuring all our projects run to plan and on schedule. René was previously employed as a senior manager for PwC Australia in the Operations Management Consulting group, where he was responsible for delivering and growing PwC's project portfolio at Utilities in (Western) Australia.

Prior to that René worked as a Senior Manager in Accenture's Resources Client Group, focusing on projects within the Utilities Transmission & Distribution (Grid) domain.

James Eggleston

Senior Analyst

James Eggleston is a Senior Analyst within the Business Development team at Power Ledger, a Federally funded Doctoral Researcher at the Curtin University Sustainability Policy (CUSP) Institute, Executive Committee Member at the Conservation Council of Western Australia (CCWA) and Councillor at the Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF).

At Power Ledger, James works on project implementation of blockchain applications for renewable electricity trading, asset management and distribution market optimization. At CUSP Institute James' research is focused on blockchain applications within smart cities and the underpinning utility sectors. At the CCWA and ACF James brings to the board expertise in strategic planning for the electricity sector, smart cities and infrastructure influencing Australian Government Policy.

Anya Nova

Crypto Economist

Anya Nova is a Crypto Economist at Power Ledger, where she is leading the development of Power Ledger's energy financing product. Anya specializes in security tokens and is a strong advocate for renewable energy and blockchain adoption.

Anya has presented at blockchain, security token and digital assets conferences internationally. Prior to Power Ledger, Anya was an advisor to technology startups and large corporates. She has also worked internationally in roles with Shell, Rio Tinto, and Merrill Lynch. Anya is a recipient of the 2018 Women in Technology WA '20 in 20' Award.

Dr. Bill Tai

Global Ambassador and Advisor

World renowned venture capitalist, Bill originally trained as a chip designer and joined LSI Logic, a seminal Silicon Valley startup formed by the CEO of Fairchild Semiconductor after earning a BSEE with Honors from University of Illinois.

After completing a MBA at Harvard, he was issued badge #A001 at TSMC, now among the most valuable tech companies in the world. He has been a venture capitalist since 1991 and today is the Chairman of Treasure Data, a Board Member of Bitfury and Voxer. Bill was Founding Chairman and CEO of iAsiaWorks (IPO via Goldman Sachs & Morgan Stanley) and Founding Chairman of IPinfusion.

He has served as Board Director of 7 publicly listed companies that grew from startups he funded at their formative stages. He serves on the World Economic Forum's Technology Pioneer Committee and is an Adjunct Professor of Innovation at Curtin University.

Dante Disparte

Power Ledger Affiliate

Dante Disparte is an entrepreneur, business leader and global risk expert. He is the founder and former CEO of Risk Cooperative, a strategic risk advisory and insurance brokerage firm based in Washington, DC. Dante serves on the board of the American Security Project, where he founded and chairs the Business Council. He is also a member of the Bretton Woods II Council and a fellow at New America.

He is a frequent speaker and commentator on business and political issues shaping the world. From entrepreneurship, where he was invited by the White House to speak at the Global Entrepreneurship Summit in Kenya, to risk, economic competitiveness and security issues, Dante’s wide-ranging views are regularly featured in leading media and publications, such as Harvard Business Review, Huffington Post, Forbes and International Policy Digest, among others.

A graduate of Harvard Business School, where he chairs the D.C. alumni association and is a former member of the global alumni board, Dante holds an MSc. in Risk Management from the NYU Stern School of Business and a B.A. in International and Intercultural Studies from Goucher College. He is fluent in 6 languages and has conducted business all over the world. He is the co-author of “Global Risk Agility and Decision Making” (Macmillan, 2016) and was recognized as one of the 40 leaders under 40 by the Washington Business Journal and in the inaugural Powermeter 100 list.

Prof. Peter Droege

Europe Ambassador

Peter Droege is an international urban sustainability expert and experienced mind on advanced urban policy, management, transport policy and strategy, urban design, city and regional planning and renewable infrastructure development – and the director of the Liechtenstein Institute for Strategic Development (eurisd.org).

He holds a Conjoint Professorship at the University of Newcastle's School of Architecture and Built Environment and has developed a Chair for Sustainable Spatial Development at the University of Liechtenstein. Peter Droege's academic career stretches from the School of Architecture and Planning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and his position at the University of Tokyo as Urban Development Engineering Endowed Chair to his position as Lend Lease Chair and Professor of Urban Design at the University of Sydney, to the University of Liechtenstein.
