This project, by DevelopmentWA, is part of the Australian Government’s Smart Cities and Suburbs initiative, sees a 670kW/h shared battery installed on a site, allowing 36 homes with rooftop solar being able to trade with each other via the battery, utilising the Power Ledger platform.
This project creates a benchmark for what is possible in sustainable urban infill and the delivery of affordable, clean and resilient energy markets.
How the technology works
Power Ledger’s platform, utilizing its µGrid and VPP features to create a marketplace within a residential property development in Perth, Western Australia, allowing residents with rooftop solar to trade electricity with each other, via the battery. The battery, using the VPP feature, can also be used to provide services to the energy grid.
