Are virtual power plants the future of solar energy?

Powerledger features on ABC’s 7.30 Report.

The 7.30 Report is the flagship evening news analysis program for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

As part of a series examining the solar power industry in Australia, the 7.30 Report looked at the popularity of rooftop solar power and how that is informing projects to share power locally.

Powerledger’s peer-to-peer energy trading technology, which is deployed across 24 apartments at the Evermore development in the White Gum Valley in Western Australia, was featured in the program.

As one resident points out, using P2P means she spends just $50 a month on her power bill but also makes money because she can sell surplus energy to her neighbours in the same building.
