From Germany to California, Australia to Japan renewables are causing problems. Emissions targets are being missed, grids are unstable and everywhere prices are higher than we ever expected.

Some of the reasons aren’t hard to understand, but many of the solutions require an appreciation of cutting edge technology and an entirely new model of energy.
