Powerledger has won the Renewable Energy Markets (REM) award, which recognises innovation and new market approaches to sustainable energy.

Judged by a panel including the CRS, the Centre for Resource Solutions, Powerledger wins its award along with two other entrants, Evident Global I-REC Registry, and APX TIGR Registry.

The enterprises are all based in Asia, and projects are assessed for their contributions to the growth of green power as well as their innovative edge.

“As a company, Powerledger was founded on the principle that markets, rather than pure regulation by itself, is what creates positive change. So we’re delighted to be receiving this award, because it vindicates everything we’ve been working towards” said Jemma Green, Chair of Powerledger.

The three awarded organizations are helping to engage with local and national governments on pilot tracking systems, peer to peer REC trading and national tracking to support market development.

The REM organisation which operates in Asia and the US, brings corporate leaders, policymakers, and suppliers together to collaborate and guide the expanding green market. Its aims are exploring emerging trends in policy, exchange best practices in renewable energy procurement and marketing, review the latest technology and market innovations, and help shape the future for renewable energy.

Powerledger is no stranger to the awards ceremonies.

In March 2022, the company was awarded Global Champion at the World Summit Awards (WSA) for its work in promoting distributed electricity in Uttar Pradesh, India. Powerledger was awarded the top honour of Global Champion in the ‘Environment and Green Energy’ category.

Four years ago, Powerledger Co-Founder Dr Jemma Green, a former investment banker, took out the FinTech category at the 2018 EY Entrepreneur Of The Year Awards. Powerledger won top prize at the 2018 Extreme Tech challenge on Richard Branson’s Necker Island.
